Strange Death of the Future : Firouz FarmanFarmaian
SDOF is a Polymediatic digital-physical object-interplay involving Sound Art Video Art, Analog Art and ultimately including Augmented + 3D VR editions loaded on the Blockchain as Ethereum powered NFT’s.
Taking its inceptive roots in Aaron Bastani’s radical vision for our dawning century as found in the ‘Fully Automated Luxury Communism’ Manifesto, SDOF is a Polymediatic digital-physical object-interplay involving Sound Art Video Art, Analog Art and ultimately including Augmented + 3D VR editions loaded on the Blockchain as Ethereum powered NFT’s.
Created as a 116 sec. Poemtrack via my collaborative Sonic Platform FORRM in May 2020 as Sound Art for the 2D VR lockdown online exhibit ‘Let’s Get Lost : Let Them Send Out Alarms 2.0’ ( Nouvelle Vague Artspaces Sotogrande Spain, Janet Rady Fine Arts London, Nava Contemporary San Francisco ) SDOF went on to be featured in ‘Art in Isolation’, the Middle East Institute’s Fall 2020 physical-digital exhibit in Washington DC curated by Laila Jadallah.
It sparked the idea to present the project in the physical space of our PATIOO Monoroon in May 2021, disseminating editions in between Nouvelle Vague Artspaces, Canadian platform Unique Multiples and NFT platforms.
As a Polymediatic object, the artwork can be assembled and-or disassembled, presented as seperate editions or acquired as a whole but ultimately stands as the representation and sum of its many bodily parts.
SDOF includes the original Sound-Art in an edition of three signed and numbered physical customized white label 12’ Vinyl records including three numbered USB keys alongside the handwritten signed SDOF user manual and Blockchain authentification certificate. SDOF includes two seperate Video-Art Editions forked into two seperateeditions of three presented on signed and numbered white sleeve customized VHS tapes alongside the handwritten signed SDOF user manual and authentification certificate.
